The award-winning story of love, loss, friendship
and just maybe a little bit of magic

For eleven happy years Kara was fiery and independent, leaping over tall couches, jumping off the dock, and best of all reading comic books with her Dad, especially her favorite - The Scarlet Raven, a Golden Age Heroine.
Now, on her first Summer Vacation to Cape Cod after losing her father, Kara finds a gift from yesteryear in a magical kite shop – an authentic Scarlet Raven Cape, just like the ads in the back of the comics from when her Dad was a boy.
Unfortunately, The Cape is priced as if it really can let you fly! Now Kara will have to decide how far she’s willing to go to find out if the magic is real, and how special a true friend can be.
The Cape is an inspirational journey of love, loss, friendship and just maybe a little bit of magic.

Out now by the Jon Kott Band - check out Jon's fantastic track!
Twelve-Volt Saturday Night was a finalist in the Great American Song Contest Country Music Category!
I grew up in a small town outside New York, next to the town where Don McLean - of “American Pie” fame - grew up. Local lore had it that “The Barge” - a bar that hung over the waters of Long Island Sound, was the original “Levy”.
It probably wasn’t true, but it was fun to say “I’ll meet you at the Levy” and one day it did, in fact, fall into the water. We also used to take my friend’s Boston Whaler out to the end of the runway at LaGuardia airport and watch the planes fly over and listen to music from a cassette walkman plugged into battery powered speakers.

Stories from the end of the road

Music runs deep in my family. My grandfather and great uncle came from a family that emigrated from Norway, and they formed their own orchestra and toured all around. My grandfather met my grandmother, a torch singer who was an early act at the Rainbow Room when it first opened in Rockefeller Center.
They started one of the first music jingle companies together, called Music Commercials. My grandfather Morris Olson became a composer for Fox Films, and my great uncle Henry Russell was the conductor of the NBC Radio Orchestra before opening his own studio in Los Angeles.
We had my grandmothers piano and I started teaching myself to play before I was a teenager. One day we we found my grandfather’s guitar in a closet at my grandmother’s house, and things were never the same. I played in bands and theatre in high school and college, and headed out to L.A. for music school after college, playing with some amazing musicians and in the clubs where some of the biggest names in rock & roll had gotten their start.
I always gravitated towards technology, and for a while I ended up developing sounds for keyboard companies all over the world. I got pulled into the world of technology more professionally and I’ve ended up working all over the world - from the U.S. to the U.K., from India to Australia. It’s been a great run, and my teams have built and shipped billions of dollars of some of the most successful TV products in the world.
Along the way I got to work with some amazing creative folks to bring a vision I had for a film to life, and we were lucky enough to screen it at dozens of festivals across the world, and win some incredibly gratifying awards.
But… music always called. I’m still a recovering tech-guy, and I have a novel that will come out one of these days, but these days I call Cape Cod home, and spend most of my free time writing music for pitch and sync. My grandmother’s piano and grandfather’s guitar are both over 100 years old now, and I still play them all the time.
Thanks for visiting
